You don’t want to make an arse of yourself and bug the developer in case you misread the code. You thought you were reading it in order to provide a higher-level explanation but the code looks wrong. This is how the ability to read code goes for technical writers… in real life: It’s such a stupid question (or used to be, before it stopped mattering).
Nevertheless, when I am asked by an interviewer if I can read code, I feel like I went too far last night with the Vindaloo. I’ve built neural networks and virtual reality apps.
